Spinach Gomaae with Sesame Dressing
Frozen spinach and tahini offer a flavorful shortcut to this traditional Japanese side dish. Cook the greens in the microwave using your Anyday and store any leftovers (lid on) in fridge.
All of Anyday’s recipes are tested (and retested!) in many different microwaves and home kitchens to make sure they work — and work well.

Ingredients
- 8 oz (225g) frozen spinach
- 1½ tablespoons tahini
- 2 teaspoons soy sauce
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- ½ teaspoon toasted sesame seeds
- ¼ teaspoon sesame oil
- ¼ teaspoon sake (optional)
- ¼ teaspoon mirin (optional)
Preparation
- Place the spinach in the Anyday dish. Cover with the lid (knob lifted) and cook in the microwave for 4-5 minutes or until the spinach is fully thawed but not hot.
- While the spinach cooks, whisk the tahini, soy sauce, sugar, sesame oil, sake and mirin (if using) in a separate bowl.
- Spinach should have a little bit of water in the dish — if water is pooling, gently strain the spinach (do not squeeze) and toss with dressing.
- Garnish with sesame seeds and serve. Serve at room temperature or chilled.
Serving suggestions & tips
- Garnish with crispy shallots for extra flavor and crunch.
