Select your microwave wattage in the dropdown. The cook times in this recipe will automatically change accordingly.

To find your microwave’s wattage, look at the front panel, the side of the door, in the back, in the user manual, or Google the model number. If both an input and output wattage are listed, use the output.

Wattage translates to how powerful the microwave is. The higher the wattage, the faster your food will cook. The lower the wattage, the longer the cook time.

When in doubt, start with less time — you can always add more.

Ingredients

Dates

  • 6 large Medjool dates, pitted
  • 3 strips center cut bacon, cut in half lengthwise
  • 6 whole walnuts (optional)

Sauce

  • ¼ cup (60ml) balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons dijon mustard
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)

Preparation

  1. Make the sauce: Mix the mustard, honey and cayenne (if using) in a small bowl and set aside.
  2. Gently split dates with your fingers to make an opening and press walnuts inside. Close the dates and wrap with half a strip of bacon. Set the dates seam-side down into the Anyday Dish.
  3. Cover with lid (knob lifted) and cook in the microwave for 6-7 minutes, or until bacon is crispy. Note: The bacon will crisp up as it cools — do not overcook!
  4. Serve immediately with mustard sauce.
