Apple Crumble
Few desserts capture the essence of fall better than a warm, well-spiced, buttery apple crisp (preferably a la mode!). Crisps usually cook in well over 30 minutes, but this one's ready in half the time — no oven preheating required. For a crispy browned top, finish cooking in a 450°F oven for a few minutes.
All of Anyday’s recipes are tested (and retested!) in many different microwaves and home kitchens to make sure they work — and work well.

Ingredients
For the Apple Filling
- 2 apples, peeled, seeded and diced (1 ½ cups, 200)
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons lemon juice
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ¼ cup (65g) apple sauce
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
For the Crisp Topping
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- ¼ cup (25g) old-fashioned whole rolled oats
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ⅛ teaspoon salt
Preparation
- Mix all the ingredients for the filling in the Anyday dish and set aside. (NOTE: The smaller you cut the apples, the softer they will be. Cut to the texture of your liking.)
- In a separate bowl, mix the crisp topping ingredients until well incorporated. Sprinkle the topping mixture over the apple mixture, making sure the apples are evenly covered.
- Cook uncovered for 6-7 minutes, or until the edges bubble up and the topping feels firm.
- Allow the crisp to cool slightly. Serve warm or cold.
Serving suggestions & tips
- For an even easier crisp, top the apple mixture with pre-made granola before cooking.
- Add chopped almonds to the topping for a crunchier crisp.
- Enjoy with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
- Substitute apples for pears, peaches, plums, or apricots.
- Make it gluten-free by using gluten-free all-purpose flour in the topping.
- Microwave ovens vary, even with the same wattages. Adjust cooking times as needed.
